Made of tate-maru-gata iron, niko-bori in gold, copper, shakudo and silver, maru-mimi. The scene is of Chinese style and depicts three sages meditating on a mountain amidst pine trees, shrubs, flowers and a small waterfall. In the background are distant mountains. Kozuka and Kogai histu-ana with silver ategane. Late Edo period, circa 1850. The Soten School works in Omi and is specialized in Chinese landscapes and characters. Provenance: Hotel Druot sale, Paris, 1968 and Christie's London, 16/09/1997.
