Made of iron, tate-maru-gata with undulated surface slightly lowering towards the mimi. The decoration consists of a branch of Paulownia flowers engraved and decorated in gold nunomes on the top, and of Paulownia leaves with silver nunomes on the bottom, the nakago ana is framed above and below with chrysanthemum's petals. This tsuba of the Jingo school is probably produced in Edo, as it is influenced by the style of the Kumagai school belonging to Edo Higo, whose higo-zogan is clearly visible on the upper leaves. Late Edo period, circa 1850. Provenance: Fahrenhorst-Lempertz Collection, Cologne, 1968, Compton Collection, second part, 1992.
