Made of shakudo with perfect nanako surface, typical of the Goto school, engraved with shakudo and golf takabori iroè, a pair of Knights, one is on foot fighting and clutching the other, while holding his horse with the bridle, the details with fine ke-bori engravings. The rear part is gilded and finished with rain-like yasuri. Mei: Mitsutomo with Kao. Late Edo period. In Kiri-box. The signature is Goto Mitsutuomo with Kao and is attributed to Renyo (Mitsutomo), the tenth master of the Goto line. The scene probably depicts an episode of the Gempei war. Perfect preservation.
