An 18th century straight blade with deep fuller at the forte featuring the inscription 'XX EN XX TOLEDO XX' and a cross. Brass hilt with remains of mercury gilding. Shell-guard with trophy of shields and flags surmounted by a flaming grenade, lion heads at both ends. Quillon with center of crossguard featuring a griffin in relief, the parry quillon ending in a monster's head. The guard knot and the base of the quillons are worked with acanthus leaves in relief. Pommel shaped as a plumed helmet. A ring nut of the grip with stars within toothed wheels, the other ring nut is smooth; brass wire binding. Iron scabbard (not pertinent) covered with leather and with leather belt frog.
