No. T2.The Tsuba, the guard of the Japanese sword, has always been considered one of the most esteemed possessions of a warrior. For both, the humble foot soldier as well as the high ranked Samurai, the tsuba was of great significance. Not only made to protect his hand as one o the most important parts of the body but above all, for the higher ranking warrior, it was a reflection of himself, an expression of his thoughts and imagination. Simple open work in early tsuba as well as lavish and intricate techniques, often allow us only an idea of what the owner was attempting to express.
