Blade shinogi zukuri iori mune. Nagasa 70,4 cm. Hada: itame nagare masame ko mokume shinogi masame. Hamon: midare gunome nioi deki ko-nie. Suriage. Early Shinshinto period (c. 1800). Tokuden school. In koshirae of the same period. Copper habaki. Kaku maru gata iron tsuba. Brass-coloured metal fuchi and kashira decorated with granulated hexagons and silver bands. Partially gilded dragon menuki. Possibly later lacing. Red-lacquered wooden saya (defects and restorations to the finishing) with mounts worked en suite with those of the sword. Blade in very good condition with probably coeval koshirae.
