William Shatner (Montréal, March 22, 1931) is a Canadian actor and director best known for playing the character of Captain James T. Kirk in the television series Star Trek (1966-1969) and in seven films inspired by or related to it, two of which he directed, as well as the protagonist of the TV series TJ Hooker (1982-1986) in the role of the eponymous police sergeant. The turning point in his acting career came in 1966, when he was chosen by producer Gene Roddenberry to play the role of Captain James T. Kirk in the science fiction television series Star Trek. Although the serial ended after three seasons in 1969, such was its success that over the years a cartoon was produced in 1973, several films and some video games. Both as a voice actor and as an actor, Shatner is always reconfirmed to play the role that gave him notoriety. In 1989 he himself directed the fifth film inspired by the series, Star Trek V - The Final Frontier. As a writer, since 1995 he has published several series of novels set in the Star Trek universe, entitled Odyssey, The Mirror Universe and Totality. On October 13, 2021, together with three other people, he participated as an astronaut in the NS-18 flight of the New Shepard suborbital spacecraft owned by Blue Origin. In this way William Shatner, at the age of 90 years, 6 months and 22 days, became the oldest human being to have gone into space, turning into reality his experiences on the set as captain of the famous space ship Enterprise in the science fiction saga Star Trek. Not worn.
