Thomas Jürgen Häßler (West Berlin, 30 May 1966) is a former German footballer, who played as a midfielder. World champion in 1990 and European champion in 1996 with the German national team. He began his professional career in 1984 in Cologne, contributing to the club's second place in the Bundesliga in 1989 and 1990. After winning the 1990 World Cup with the German national team, Häßler moved to Juventus, but the impact with Serie A did not it was easy: Maifredi's Bianconeri had a very complicated season, not qualifying for the European cups. The year under the Mole, after 32 appearances and one goal, ended with a farewell without too many regrets. He was signed by Roma, becoming the key man of the Giallorossi midfield. In a short time he gained trust and approval from the Roma public, also thanks to the equalizing goal in the derby in March '92. In three seasons in Rome he totaled 88 appearances and 11 goals. In 1994 he returned to Germany to Karlsruhe, with whom he won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1996. With Germany he played 101 matches scoring 11 goals, taking part in the 1990, 1994 and 1998 World Cups and the 1992, 1996 and 2000 European Championships.
