Roberto Carlos (Garça, 10 April 1973) is a former Brazilian footballer, who played as a defender. Considered one of the best full-backs of all time, he is among the small circle of players with at least 1000 career appearances. He achieved his greatest successes in the years in which he played for Real Madrid (1996-2007), winning, among other things, the Spanish La Liga four times, the Champions League three times and the Intercontinental Cup twice. In the 1995-96 season he played for Inter with whom he made a total of 34 appearances (30 in the league, 2 in the Italian Cup and 2 in the UEFA Cup) with 7 goals (5 in Serie A and one in both the Italian Cup and in the UEFA Cup). A long-time member of the Brazilian national team, with the Seleção he won the Copa América and the Confederations Cup in 1997, another Copa América in 1999 and above all the 2002 world championship, after having already obtained a second place in 1998.
