To Win Tomorrow - The Karate Kid is a 1984 film directed by John G. Avildsen. It is the first chapter of the Karate Kid tetralogy. In addition to marking the fame of Ralph Macchio (in the role of the young protagonist Daniel LaRusso) the film highlighted other actors, first of all Noriyuki "Pat" Morita who for this performance received a nomination for best supporting actor at the Oscars of 1985. Ralph Macchio (Huntington, November 4, 1961) is an American actor who entered the collective imagination thanks to the role of Daniel LaRusso in the film series The Karate Kid paired with Pat Morita. In 2018 he returns to play the character in the Cobra Kai series. In 1983 he participated in the film directed by Francis Ford Coppola The Boys on 56th Street, with Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, C. Thomas Howell, Rob Lowe and Tom Cruise.
