Paolo Rossi (Prato, 23 September 1956 – Siena, 9 December 2020) was an Italian footballer, who played as a striker. With the Italian national team he became world champion in 1982. He is remembered mainly for his exploits and his goals at the following world championship in Spain 1982, where he won the title of top scorer. In the same year he also won the Ballon d'Or. Together with Roberto Baggio and Christian Vieri he holds the Italian record for scoring in the World Cup, with 9 goals. He was the first player ever (equaled only by Ronaldo in 2002) to have won the World Cup, the title of top scorer of that competition and the Ballon d'Or in the same year. With the Juve shirt he won 2 Italian Championships (1981-1982, 1983-1984); an Italian Cup (1982-1983); one Cup Winners' Cup (1983-1984); a UEFA Super Cup (1984); a European Cup (1984-1985).
