As a player, together with his teammates Franco Baresi, Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Costacurta, he composed one of the best defensive lines in the history of football, allowing Milan to set the absolute record of consecutive matches without defeat (58) in the five main European championships (from 26 May 1991 to 14 March 1993). Tassotti's first success was the 1988 scudetto, followed by two European Cups, then three consecutive titles between 1992 and 1994 and the victory of the UEFA Champions League in 1994. After another scudetto won in 1996, he retired from his activity as a footballer at the age of 37, in 1997. In total Tassotti played 404 games in Serie A and 65 in Serie B, 428 games with the Milan shirt in the championship.
