Literature
Karl-Heinz Riedle, known as Kalle (Weiler-Simmerberg, 16 September 1965), is a former German footballer, who played as a forward. World champion with West Germany in 1990. In 1987 he was signed by Werder Bremen. His good performance in Germany attracted the interest of Lazio who signed him in 1990. In the Biancoceleste shirt he formed a prolific attacking duo with Rubén Sosa; he scored his first goal in Serie A on 30 September 1990, in the then drawn match against Milan (1-1). During his three-year period in the capital, he scored 30 goals in the championship: the best result achieved by the Biancocelesti, in an overall colorless era of their history, was fifth place in the 1992-93 championship. In 1993 he returned to Germany, signing with Borussia Dortmund. Among the ranks of the yellow and black team he won two consecutive national titles, in 1995 and 1996. He also won the 1996-97 Champions League, scoring a brace in the final won 3-1 against Juventus. He then played for two years in Liverpool, finding little space due to the success of the young Michael Owen. His last experience on the field was also in England, wearing the Fulham shirt from 1999 to 2001.
