Edwin van der Sar (Voorhout, 29 October 1970) is a Dutch footballer who plays a goalkeeper. Considered one of the best goalkeepers in the history of football, he is the second most capped player for the Dutch national team with 130 appearances. He boasts 665 minutes of unbeaten international play with his national team and 1,311 minutes in the Premier League with Manchester United. His debut took place on 23 April 1991 in a Dutch championship match with the Ajax shirt, a team with which he won, among other things, 4 Dutch championships, a UEFA Cup and a UEFA Champions League. Purchased in the summer of 1999 by Juventus for the sum of 17 billion lire, he was the first foreign goalkeeper in the history of the Turin club. In the summer of 2001 he was bought by London club Fulham for £7 million. On 5 June 2005 he moved to Manchester Utd, where he won 4 English championships, 3 English League Cups and his second UEFA Champions League. His record for the Dutch national team is 130 appearances, of which 11 at the World Cup and 16 at the European Championships.
