Alessandro Nesta (Rome, 19 March 1976) is an Italian footballer, playing as a defender, who became World Champion with the Italian national team in 2006. He grew up in Lazio, where he played from 1993 to 2002, winning two Italian Cups, two Italian Super Cups, an Italian championship, a Cup Winners' Cup and a UEFA Super Cup, in 2002 he moved to Milan, where in ten seasons he won two Italian championships, an Italian Cup, two Italian Super Cups, two UEFA Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and a Cup of the FIFA club world. From 2012 to 2013 he played for the Montreal Impact, winning a Canadian Championship, before ending his career in 2014 with Chennaiyin. With the Italian national team he made 78 appearances, taking part in three European championships (England 1996, Belgium-Netherlands 2000, Portugal 2004) and three world championships (France 1998, South Korea-Japan 2002, Germany 2006).
