Alessandro Del Piero (Conegliano, 9 November 1974) is a former Italian footballer, who played as a forward. He became world champion in 2006 with the Italian national team. Nicknamed Pinturicchio by Gianni Agnelli, he is considered one of the best Italian players of all time. Captain of Juventus from 2001 to 2012, with the Turin club he won numerous trophies at national and international level, scoring in all the competitions in which he participated and setting club records for goals (290) and appearances (705). He is also in tenth place for goals scored in Serie A (188), tied with Alberto Gilardino and Giuseppe Signori. With the Juve shirt he won 6 Italian Championships (1994-1995, 1996-1997, 1997-1998, 2001-2002, 2002-2003, 2011-2012), an Italian Cup (1994-1995) and 4 Italian Super Cups (1995 , 1997, 2002, 2003). From 1995 to 2008 he was part of the national team, participating in three world championships (France 1998, South Korea-Japan 2002 and Germany 2006) and four European championships (England 1996, Belgium-Netherlands 2000, Portugal 2004 and Austria -Switzerland 2008), the last of which as captain. For the Azzurri he made 91 appearances and 27 goals, making him the fourth best scorer ever together with Roberto Baggio. Also considering the goals scored in the youth national teams, he is second, behind Silvio Piola (390), in the ranking of the best Italian scorers of all time, with 359 goals. In his career he won four top scorer titles: in the UEFA Champions League in 1998 with 10 goals, in the Italian Cup in 2006 with 5 goals, in Serie B in 2007 with 20 goals and in Serie A in 2008 with 21 goals.
