Alan Shearer (Newcastle upon Tyne, 13 August 1970) is an English footballer, considered one of the best English strikers in the history of football. In his professional career he wore the shirts of Southampton, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, becoming the Premier League's all-time top scorer with 260 goals in 440 official matches; he also holds the records for the highest number of hat-tricks (11)[4] and the highest number of goals scored in a single match (5) in the English championship.[5] He is also Newcastle's record holder for goals overall (206) and in European competitions (30).[6] From 1992 to 2000 he was also part of the England national team, participating in three editions of the European Championship (1992, 1996, 2000) and the 1998 World Cup. With 30 goals in 63 games, he is also England's seventh best scorer ever. .
