Riccardo Moncalvo began photographing in his father's atelier named "Artistic and Industrial Photography." He was a member of the Subalpine Photographic Society, one of the very first associations of this kind in Italy and then co-founder, in 1948, of Fiaf. His best-known mountain photographs’ portray the Piedmont mountains. Even more interesting are his urban landscapes and architectures, characterized by a modern sense of geometric essentiality. Good examples are the photographs of the Monreale Kiosk, the result of a composition focused on light and shadow, and the one of the famous Turin confectionery factory “Talmone”.
