A leading exponent of landscape photography, the Englishman John Davies is characterised by his distinctive shots: the environment of his England is meticulously observed in order to highlight the relationship between the countryside and the city, between the green of rural areas and the imposing and sometimes threatening presence of large factories, including disused ones that nonetheless definitively mark the landscape. The use of the large-format view camera allows him to obtain far-reaching black and white images.
