These two beautiful female portraits by Man Ray have an interesting story to tell. The printing technique - the so-called pseudosolarisation – is obtained by illuminating the paper for a fraction of time during the development phase, which gives the faces a mysterious and intriguing quality. These two images were made in 1981 under the direction of his wife Juliet from the original negatives in an operation involving three other important Milanese figures: the photographer Mario Carrieri, who made his studio available for the prints, Paolo Vandrash, who made them with his acknowledged cultural competence and technical skill, and the art dealer Giorgio Marconi, the most important Italian collector of Man Ray, who published them.
