Franco Vaccari, who had been invited to Graz for the Painting Weeks, i.e. to spend a month in an isolated location where he was supposed to produce artistic objects, produced his work during the journey, before his arrival. He stated 'I chose to apply my attention to the means of transport moving in the same direction as me. I wanted to use photography not as a mean of contemplation but to unhinge my visual conditioning [....] Once I arrived at my destination my work was finished'.
