Literature

William Eggleston, Ancient and Modern, Jonathan Cape Ltd, London, 1992
When New York's MoMA held William Egglestone's first solo exhibition, thus releasing colour through customs in the temple of photographic art, Ansel Adams wrote an indignant letter to the museum, and many viewed with suspicion the over-saturated prints that already characterised his style. But what scandalised then and seduces in his works today is his ability to ennoble the everyday, to capture in the banal that seed that can germinate into the artistic dimension.
