The girl, who bought her first Bakelite camera with pocket money and came from her native Switzerland to Paris to stay, became one of the most eminent representatives of the Photographie Humaniste. These are the kind of stories that fascinate when it comes to photography, such as the fact of realising that Sabine Weiss, who recently passed away at the age of ninety-seven, reached those heights thanks to a linear, clean, non-rhetorical style, as can be verified by observing these two appreciable shots of a woman whose posture is only visible in the overhead shot, and of a man venturing, on a foggy night that the artificial light makes almost liquid, towards who knows where.
