Literature

R. Whelan, Robert Capa: a biograph, Knopfy, New York, 1985Robert Capa, Slightly Out of Focus, Modern Library War, New York, 2001
He was already establishing himself as a great photographer in Paris, but the reportages that Robert Capa and his companion Gerda Taro made in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War - the rehearsal for the one unleashed by the Nazi-Fascists - made him known throughout the world thanks to his style that implied an even physical involvement with the events he documented. Robert Capa's talent also emerges in this image that captures the tragedy of Leipzig's destruction by the Allies from a different point of view - the juxtaposition of the row of inhabitants and the towering ruins.
