German by birth but trained in London and Paris, the young photographer Karen Knorr has made a name for herself for her ability to combine reality and fantasy, to make fun of the seriousness of traditions and allude to the enchantment that nature arouses. In her research "Metamorphoses", the sudden appearance of animals within elegant and often opulent architectural interiors she confronts nature and culture but, on closer inspection, also reality and dream, classicism and provocation, analogue photography and digital technology.
