Lucien Hervè's life is as seductive as that of a novel but as authentic as that of someone who has lived through the entire 20th century. Born in Hungary as László Elkán, he studied piano, made a name for himself as a wrestling and volleyball athlete, moved to France where he worked in fashion, became politically involved by joining the Resistance where he acquired the French name he would never abandon. Although he did reportage and fashion shoots, his fame is linked to images of architecture and his close association with Le Courbusier whose rigorous and essential style he masterfully interprets.
