There are images that are part of history and as such are always perceived as a document, in this case of the conquest of the Japanese island by the US army, that Rosenthal joined as a photographer. But the fame of this image has also given rise to other ways of fruition, such as the observation of the perfect composition of the group of soldiers and the flag that crosses the image diagonally, giving it dynamism. Finally, others have opened a discussion on the relationship between reality and representation because it is known that the photograph was not taken in the final moment of the battle but the next day with the complicity of the same soldiers who posed.
