Unique and truly extraordinary pieces that count the most important names in Italian painting between the 19th and 20th centuries: from a typical Impressionist girl by Federico Zandomeneghi (Zandò to most) to a breathtaking Venice by Rubens Santoro, from a majestic dolomitic Guglielmo Ciardi to a magnetic commoner by Gaetano Esposito, to name but a few.
A section dedicated to women, from innocent to fatal, told by artists such as: Arturo Rietti, Romano Valori, Aleardo Villa, Giovanni Sottocornola up to Giuseppe De Nittis' Parisian, in open dialogue with the large retrospective organized at the same time at Palazzo Reale. Also noteworthy is a section worthy of the Gallerie d'Italia with the four monumental Romantic landscapes interpreted by Piccio, Giuseppe Canella, Giacomo Trecourt and Pietro Ronzoni.
All the major Italian schools and movements are represented here, offering the public a figuration that is unlikely to go out of fashion, given the iconicity of the piece, a guiding star in the department's choices.

Conditions of Sale
The 19th and Early 20th Century Art Department evaluates and sells at auction paintings and works of art dating back to the period between the early 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
Thanks to meticulous work on the selection and collection of works, the catalogues present not only paintings from the 19th and 20th century, but also sculptures in terracotta, marble and bronze, as well as emblematic works from drawing to watercolour, from oil to tempera on canvas. The department devotes special attention to Italian and international works of art.
Works presented in previous catalogues include painters from the Roman countryside, representatives of the Roman Secession, great masters of the various regional schools and artists of worldwide fame and appeal such as Antonio Mancini and Paolo Troubetzkoy.
Sales are held twice a year, in spring and autumn.
