Provenance

The Model
Immediately after the presentation of the new A110 at the Geneva Motor Show, the idea of a "Première Édition" a dedicated collector's model emerged, to celebrate the rebirth of the famous French brand Alpine, Only 1955 Première Édition were produced, available in three colours: Alpine Blue, Deep Black or Pearl Ice White. Reserving a car was possible only through a mobile application, which allowed buyers to "win" the vehicle by paying a refundable deposit. In just five days the vehicles had sold out. The A110 reflects the DNA of the fast French berlinettas, rally queens of the 1970s, with its composite bodywork, rear-engine & drive, and sports suspension. The aluminium chassis and bodywork of the new A110 bring the weight down to just 1,080 kg (in running order). The pursuit of lightness led Alpine technicians to choose specific solutions for various car components, such as the aluminium suspension parts, the Sabelt bucket seats weighing just 13.1 kg each and the brakes with parking integrated brake actuator: a world's first, which generates a weight saving of 2.5 kilograms per brake. Designed to be as close as possible to the ground, by adopting front and rear double A-arms suspension and anti-roll bars (hollow and light) to make each curve a real driving pleasure. Despite the "low slung" set-up, thanks to a comparatively soft calibration of the springs, the car remains relatively comfortable in normal driving conditions. The braking system was designed by the Italian Brembo, opting for 320mm discs, with four-piston aluminium front calipers. The 18-inch wheels, in lightweight forged aluminium, are produced by Fuchs. Turbo 4-cylinder in-line 1.8-liter engine with direct injection, prepared by Alpine with intake, exhaust and turbocharger made and calibrated correctly for the car. The engine delivers a maximum power of 252 hp at 6,000 rpm, with a torque of 320 Nm starting from 2,000 rpm. The dual-clutch gearbox is seven-speed with aluminium steering wheel paddles. With these technical specifications, the A110 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and touches 250 km/h (limited electronically). With a button on the steering wheel, the A110 offers three driving modes: Normal, Sport and Track. Depending on the mode chosen, the electronic control unit changes some parameters such as throttle response, power steering assistance, gear engagement speed, exhaust sound and activation of stability control, while the digital image on the dashboard changes according to the chosen driving mode. The line is the work of the French Anthony Villain and is inspired by the Berlinette A110, with hollow sides, ribs on the bonnet and curved rear window, the rear has no spoilers, thanks to the flat bottom and aerodynamic diffuser that generates the necessary downforce to keep the A 110 glued to the ground, leaving a streamlined and clean line. Even the additional headlights are taken from the Berlinette A110, the daytime running lights add a touch of modernity, and the X-shaped LED taillights with dynamic direction indicators. The interior is spacious enough to allow a comfortable driving position for drivers of all sizes, and passengers are welcomed in Sabelt ultralight leather seats, the stereo system is from Focal, with Flax membrane speakers, to guarantee a clear and precise sound. Finally, the aluminium pedals and the footrest for the passenger reflect the lightness of the aluminium structure of the model. The standard equipment is vibrant, with satellite navigation, air conditioning, cruise control, and the MySpin "mirroring" device that replicates the driver's smartphone. The Alpine Telemetrics, a data system that interfaces with the onboard touchscreen display is dedicated to the more racing owners, allowing the recording of lap times and track performance.
The car
The Alpine A110 Première Édition, chassis number VFAAEFD0560719657, is in the classic colour of the French Berlinettes, Alpine Blue. It is the number 1488 of 1955 produced, as reported in the plate in the center of the console. Ordered by an Italian enthusiast and former Alpine rally driver, the car has registered just over 1200 km. It seems freshly delivered from the factory. The vehicle is equipped with all the options available on the Première Édition and supplied with four new Michelin Pilot sport 205/40R18 (front), 235/40R18 (rear). With the car, a battery charge maintainer and the original Alpine car cover. Aesthetically the features that stand out are the central terminal with an adaptive exhaust system, standard on all Première Édition and 18-inch wheels in lightweight forged aluminium. In the passenger compartment, thanks to the carbon fiber elements, the brushed aluminium pedals and the Sabelt bucket seats one feels immediately onboard a real sports car. Driving it does nothing to disappoint these expectations! However, the comfort and the facilities of a modern contemporary car also allow daily use.
