Original cover made by Toppi for the magazine Comic Art n. 143, published in 1996. Toppi's mastery is able to transport us to territories and dimensions that are not always conscious. Images and imaginings that come from far away. Figurations, spaces and atmospheres that seem to belong to an unknown past, capable of leading you to moments of suspension: space-time, magical-realistic, sleep-wakefulness. The hatching is marked by a series of vertical and oblique lines, more or less thick, clear and incisive. Traced like architectures, rigid and soft temperaments. The line becomes language, narrative texture, geometry, pattern, rich in particular signs that carry stories. Lines that are sometimes soft like tangles, damasks, ornaments that build the image, other times rigid, clear, dizzying. The connecting element is the human figure, the line that weaves its plot. One of the most iconic works in the entire world of the Milanese master, a museum piece. Signed.
