Original illustration made by Steinberg in 1954 during a trip to the Southern United States (Virginia and Carolina) together with his friend the architect Aldo Buzzi. This work was later published by Buzzi in his famous book "Piccolo diario americano" by the publisher All'insegna del Pesce d'Oro in 1974. Artwork exhibited at the exhibition "Aldo Buzzi and Saul Steinberg: a friendship between literature, art and food", held at the Braidense Library in Milan in 2022 and published in the catalog of the same name on page 62. << One February morning, looking out the window, I saw a large black Cadillac down below. The wonder of traveling in an unknown country began again, of arriving every evening in a new place where everything presents itself with the unique and unrepeatable aspect that things have the first time you see them, which it is a shame to ruin with a deeper knowledge. >> (Aldo Buzzi). Signed.
