Original cover made by Giardino for Il Mago magazine n. 88 of July 1979. The Bolognese master published the adventures of Sam Pezzo for the first time in the magazine Il Mago thanks to the foresight of its director Beppi Zancan, this is the first cover of the Bolognese detective, inspired by the story published in this issue entitled "Risveglio amaro". An extraordinary work not only from an artistic and historical point of view but also from a technical point of view, Giardino in fact had to adapt to the blueprint printing technique of the magazine, realizing the work on three distinct layers: the tempera color on cardboard, the ink line drawing on acetate shet and a second sheet of acetate in which the author painted the raindrops in ink with white lead reflections.
