Original illustration made by Breccia in 1967 for an advertising campaign commissioned by the Crespi label, an Argentine wine producer. Thanks to the discovery of the publication, we know that Breccia, taking a cue from the company's motto ("el ritual de tomar vino no ha Cambiado con el tiempo") decided to depict a moment of conviviality in which wine is the master setting the scene inside of a tavern in Port Plymouth in England in the 18th century, "The Virtuous Vine". Breakthrough as a fan of adventure novels must surely have thought of Stevenson's Treasure Island or other tales of piracy while making this work, but the most fascinating detail is his "self-portrait in the future", the man below. on the right he is incredibly similar to the author in old age, the reason being that he must have probably used his father as a model. A masterpiece of the Argentine master in one of his very rare forays into the advertising world. Signed.
