Traditionally the painting was attributed to Giovanni Battista Recco and subsequently assigned to Orazio Fidani, for stylistic affinities with the Fish seller in Rome, National Gallery of Palazzo Barberini.
The attribution  to Flemish painter ative in Italy, between Rome and Naples, however, it seems the most plausible.
