Purchased on the Roman antiquarian market by collectors Marcello Ranieri and Maria Vittoria Curto and by inheritance to the current owners.
The figure of Venus finds a comparison with the homonymous classical divinity in Venus in the forge of Vulcan by Luca Giordano, of equal height, passed in Christie's, Paris, 13 December 2018, lot 140.
