The work, unpublished and to be referred to an anonymous Caravaggesque Master active in southern Italy around 1620, appears to be a sublime synthesis between classic quotations evident in the posture of the saint and expressionistic research in the rendering of the face of the young martyr contracted by pain, amplified by the raw realism of the drops of blood on the back, where the arrows stick.
