Provenance

Collection of Professor Valentino Martinelli, Rome.

The half-length painting of San Simone is taken from the full-length prototype by Carlo Maratta for the Barberini Princes exhibited in Rome, Galleria Barberini, as per oral communication from Stella Rudolph to the property.

An hypothetical attribution to Ludovico Gimignani (Rome 1643 - Zagarolo 1697)  has been proposed.
