An attribution to Antonio Tempesta (Florence 1555-Rome 1630) on stylistic basis has been advanced for the present painting. In particular, the bright colors and the refined iridescence of the painting offered in the lot refer to the ways of Tempesta who was formed in the context of the Florentine late-mannerist culture and who for a long time worked in Rome both as a painter and as an engraver.
