Information

Regno delle Due Sicilie
length 82,5 cm
Interesting curved blade, with fuller, bearing the inscription on the right side "GUARDIA D'INTERNA SICUREZZA" in Gothic letters and, on the left side the motto "VIVA IL RE" followed by other clearly abraded letters. Pitting, signs of use and time. On the base signature and date "1835 Napoli Labruna". Brass, one-quillon hilt in one-piece. Earlier leather scabbard (damage and small missing parts, detached chape) with brass mounts. See "Storia dell'Arma Bianca Italiana" by Calamandrei, p. 470. The example photographed in the book also have the King's name deleted, Calamandrei suggests it was Murat's name, our blade however is dated 1835.
