Curved, double-and false-edged blade, flat at the first part, then with two grooves and smooth again, the first part finely engraved with trophies and floral motifs, areas with rust damage. Marked '1848 Napoli Labruna' at the base; beautiful brass hilt with crowned coat-of-arms featuring the monogram 'GN' (for the National Guard) on a trophy, the pommel decorated with a lion's head and with floral motifs in high relief. Horn handle with metal wire binding. Iron scabbard (despite being long enough, it does not enter completely) with brass mounts, the bands decorated with floral motifs in bas-relief. Two suspension rings. Sword-knot.
