Slightly curved, single-and-false-edged blade, with central fuller and tang. One side of the forte provided with a coat of arms shaped as an eagle holding a bit with a dragon inside, then with a gold inscription on a blue background: "Per la giustizia e la verità colpisci senz'odio" ("In the name of justice and truth, strike without hate"), and "Ku-ngan-hsien notte 2.3 XI 1900" on the other side. Brass hilt richly engraved in high relief with uncrowned anchor inside an oval, pommel shaped as a lion's head and with twisted back valve. Fish-skin grip with metal wire binding. Complete with sword knot. Leather scabbard with gilt and engraved brass mounts, chape with anchor. Two suspension rings.
