Information

Regno delle Due Sicilie
length 112,7 cm
Straight, tipped, single-and short false-edged blade, grooved and with fuller, marked at the tang with the mark of the Royal Manufacture of Naples, mark "Z" (inspector Antonio Zampognaro) and with the date "1838". Some pitting. Brass hilt with guard provided with three additional loop-guards, mark "S.N. 68" and number "419". Short cap, grip with earlier leather covering and brass wire binding. Iron scabbard with two lugs, with signs of use and time, in old patina. Interesting. See a similar example in "L'Esercito Borbonico dal 1830 al 1861" AA. VV. (Italian Army Staff, Rome 1998), Volume II, pp. 332-333, with photo. The number 419 marked on the guard could be of papal reuse.
