Original artwork made by Luzzati for the theatrical production he curated of "Il Turco in Italia", a buffo drama in two acts by Gioachino Rossini, with a libretto by Felice Romani, staged at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro in 1983. Artwork published in the exhibition catalog "L'illustrazione racconta: la collezione Cereda" on page 36, published by the Peano Foundation in 2022. One of the first famous theaters made by the Genoese master in collaboration with the engraver Alfredo Meconi of the Il Bostrico printing house. Twice nominated for an Oscar for the animated films La gazza ladra (1964) and Pulcinella (1973), Luzzati is among the most important set designers and illustrators of the second half of the 20th century, an interpreter of a skilled and cultured figurative culture, capable of use all sorts of materials with skill: from terracotta to collages of composite papers and fabrics to construct sketches of scenes, costumes and theatrical settings. The richness of his fantastic world, the immediacy and expressiveness of his very personal style, have made him one of the most loved and admired artists of our time. <> Attached is the certificate of authenticity from the Nuages gallery in Milan signed by Cristina Taverna.
