Information

40 x 40 cm
table lamp in methacrylate and glossy blue resin.
Martinelli Luce Production

The 50th anniversary of a lamp as important to Martinelli Luce as the Cobra designed by its founder Elio Martinelli certainly represents an important event for the company.

On this occasion, a special version of the Cobra is proposed, an interpretation by Emiliana Martinelli as a tribute to her father. The lamp, produced only in an exclusive midnight blue color, is characterized by a series of holes on the cap, representing the constellation of Scorpio, the zodiac sign of Helios.

The lower body rotates on the underlying steel base and is connected to the upper body by a central joint that allows 360° rotation. Internal reflector/diffuser in white opal methacrylate. Designed in 1968 by Elio Martinelli, the Cobra represents one of the first resin lighting fixtures produced with a particular moulding system. The lamp is characterised by a simple line and a geometric shape inscribed in a sphere, but with the rotation of the arm the reflector assumes a position that recalls the head of a cobra ready to pounce.
