Octagonal, 24" barrel, marked "HENRY'S PATENT OCT. 16 1860 / MANUFACT'D BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMS CO. NEWHAVEN CT." on the back. Second-type foresight made of white metal. The outer surface of the barrel and of the magazine is well preserved, with light pitting. The magazine with working brass slide and spring. Rotatable front section, well working. With foldaway rear sight on the back of the breech, complete with slide and serial number "86xx". Bore in good condition, with visible rifling and small pitting, mostly clean. Brass frame marked "H" (inspection for B. Tyler Henry) on the lower tang. Working mechanism. Rimfire firing pin. Walnut butt with some signs of use and time, no ordinance marks are present. On the left side of the butt stock there is an iron jointed loop and the so-called "Henry Bump" underneath. Second-type butt plate complete with removable ramrod flap (not present). With support eyelet between receiver and barrel. Iron cocking lever with turnable barrel wedge.
