Information
The set consists of a helmet, a cuirass, a cartridge box, a miniature and photo of miniature. Helmet with black-lacquered, boiled leather skull (finishing with missing parts) with gilded brass mounts, featuring a large frieze with monogram ‘F 1’ (For Francis I 1804-1834) on the front, above an imperial eagle, a high crest embossed with a lion and a snake, the border with laurel fronds (one rivet missing); large chin-straps cuirassed with gilt brass plates decorated with floral motifs in bas-relief, the last plate with a lion's head, held at the sides on a lion's head in high relief; leather sweat-band inside (small missing parts and signs of use and time), still complete with leather chin-strap featuring a brass buckle; missing crest. Black-lacquered iron breastplate with gilded mounts, complete with leather belt and armoured straps with brass heart-pierced mounts on a red cloth background; the straps continuing in the back with leather bands that join the belt. Lined with leather inside and featuring a red piping and a large central pocket with button closure marked "1800 (1806?) Joseph Graf Attems Unterleutenant ... Herzog Albert 3. Cuirassier Regiment". Small damaged parts. The cartridge box with an imperial hilt gilded at the center (as the border) on a marked silver background, the silver side parts embossed with trophies on a granulated background; wooden structure covered with leather (missing parts and defects, was later relined by the same owner). An oil on cardboard miniature depicting the bust of the young count, framed and under glass (5.5 x 6.7 cm). Finally, a picture of another miniature depicting Count Attems wearing his first cuirass (of lower rank).
