Round, rifled, 58 cal. barrel, with foresight and foldaway rear sight with two sight leaves, octagonal breech dated "1863" and marked "V P" with eagle head. Bore in good condition, visible rifling. Forward spring lock. Lock plate marked "U.S. L.G. & Y. WINDSOR-VT" and dated “1863”. The base of the percussion with eagle stamping. Walnut, full stock (small crack between tang and lock). Iron mounts. Barrel bracket marked "U", butt plate marked "US". Iron ramrod (earlier?). Well working mechanism.
