Smoothbore, round, 52 cal. barrel, with square breech featuring fixed fore-end and marked "JH". Bore with signs of use and pitting, light deformation at the nozzle. Bolt block with upward swivelling opening, marked "US S. NORTH MIDL.TN CONN. 1847". Side lever (re-browned?). Semi-breechloading mechanism with working percussion. Frame also marked "HJ". Wooden full stock with remains of military inspection stamps on both sides, next to the frame; small crack on the back, a hand-engraved "P" on the right side of the butt stock. Steel mounts. Stippling, pitting, signs of use and time. Bar with sling swivel.
