Smoothbore, round, damask barrels, engraved with raceme at the basse (remains of gilding), rib with gold "Damas Extrafins" marking, silver foresight, 16 mm calibre at the nozzle. Beautiful backward spring locks with lock plates finely engraved with floral motifs and a scene of a hound chasing a bird in a wheat field (the two animals are gold-inlaid, the latter also present on the cocks); signed "LOUIS MALHERBE A LIEGE"; interesting cocks carved as a lion's head and fully engraved with floral motifs. Wooden half stock with sculpted butt shaped as a lion's head featuring two elements in relief, one ending in a sculpted bird, the other in the brass patch-box representing a wolf in relief. Iron mounts fully engraved en suite to the locks, the trigger guard with a deer and two gold-inlaid birds. Brass-tipped, wooden ramrod and iron cartridge extractors. Of good quality.
