Frame with falling block and tilting bolt. Percussion breech-loading system. Lock with plate marked "BURNSIDE RIFLE Co./PROVEDENCE=R.I.". The back marked with "BURNSIDE PATENT MODEL OF 1864". Serial number "69xx" matching on bolt block and frame. Remains of "R" marks on the lever. Walnut butt and fore-end, the former with remains of military inspection stamps. Sling swivel on the left side.
